Event: Antifacist Matinee on 3.7.2022

Time: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Place: Red Salon in the Volksbühne at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin

Free admission – The event will be held in English.

In the Red Salon of the Volksbühne, the anti-fascist research project Antifascist Europe will present itself. Antifascist Europe comprises activist initiatives, journalists and academics from all over Europe and monitors the development of transnational networks of far-right and right-wing populist parties, including in the European Parliament, as well as neo-Nazi and fascist groups.

We will then present “Mainstreaming the Far Right in Greece: Gender, Media, Armed Forces and the Church”, edited by Rosa Vasilaki and Giorgos Souvlis and published under the patronage of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

The study examines a central and politically relevant issue: the normalisation of far-right discourse on the part of both state institutions and civil society itself. The contribution of this study lies in the examination of discourses and their actors, and in the attention paid to the meaning that these subjects attribute to their own perception of their ideas being adopted and popularised by the extreme right today.

After a culinary break, we will show the documentary film “In a moment of danger” from 1 pm.

Screening followed by a Q&A with the 3 filmmakers present, Theofilos Kalaitzidis, Iason Bantios, Stavroula Poulimeni. Watch the trailer here.
